My name is Val and I'm an approximately 5 year old pit bull, lab mix. I had a rough start to life being neglected and abused by humans only to be dumped at the shelter. I had suffered a broken ankle and hip which had been left untreated and had skin infections and was underweight. I laid shaking in the back of my kennel too scared of what would happen to me next when a dedicated volunteer took special notice of me and got a team of dog lovers and rescue organizations to get me out.
I was lucky enough to find my way to a trainer who helped me learn how to trust again, build my confidence, and teach me how to be a good house dog. My trainer fell in love with me and decided to keep me but sadly medical issues force her to find another loving home for me. Maybe you're who I'm looking for!
What You'll Love About Me: I am such a sweet (and sensitive) young man. I absolutely love snuggling and giving kisses. I will do anything for a tasty treat and I will chase a ball but have no idea that I should bring it back to you! I am absolutely adorable launching into the pool to make splashes that I chase and can keep myself entertained doing this for quite some time.
I am potty trained, rarely bark, know how to rest quietly in my crate, never guard food or toys from people, and am not stressed if my humans are gone. I'm very polite while driving in the car and I love a good nap and also chewing on a nice bone.
What I Need in a Home: Because of my past, I can be a little shy (especially with strange men) so I'm looking for a home without big parties or lots of visiting strangers....I'm not aggressive, just a little unsure. I don't have a lot of experience around young kids so it's probably best I don't live with them either.
I'm more of a home body and am not the kind of dog who would enjoy going to busy spaces. So a house with a quiet neighborhood to walk in or just a nice yard for me to get my wiggles out in is perfect.
I can also be dog selective (I like some dogs once I've gotten the chance to know them) but my trainer thinks it's best I am the only dog in my home just to make sure I'll feel safe. I have previously met cats and did fine with them and I can be retested around kitties if needed.
Adopting Me: If I sound like a good fit for your home and you're dedicated to helping continue my journey in trusting humans and believing the world is a safe and wonderful place, please get in touch with Erin at Tug Dogs by emailing: email@example.com or call/text 916-426-6469. I am currently living in the Sacramento area. A home inspection will be required to adopt me (may be done virtually due to Covid) and transition/training support will be provided.
Peque is adorable, loving 8-9 year old chihuahua mix 10.5 pounds of love. He would would love a home that will give him lots of love and kisses. Peque is good with children and other dogs. But prefers to hang out with his female doggier friends. Peque came into rescue with 2 of his sisters. He was dumped by his owner, who had no time to care for the dogs. All Peque was to do is to snuggle up to someone and just enjoy life with a family. He's a sweet boy that deserves a loving caring home.
